P&C Association

The P&C Association serves as a vital link between the college, parents, guardians, staff, and students. We collaborate closely with the College to continuously enhance the educational, academic, social, sporting, and artistic experiences of your children. We encourage you to get involved.

Joining the P&C is a meaningful way to contribute to your child’s experience at Atwell College. Diversity within the P&C is important as it ensures that we represent the College community. We warmly welcome interested parents, guardians, grandparents, and other supporters of the College to join or attend our P&C meetings.

Our Role

The functions of a P&C Association include:

  • Promoting participation, cooperation, and involvement of parents, guardians, and grandparents in the school.
  • Providing a direct link to the College, Principal, Administration, and policies and programs that impact your child.
  • Offering a forum for parents to discuss issues, provide feedback, ask questions, and suggest improvements related to the College and its community.
  • Supporting the operation of the College, promoting the College, and advocating for our students’ interests within the wider community to ensure that Atwell College remains a positive and inspiring learning environment.
  • Providing additional resources for the benefit of students in government schools.

P&C Facts

  • Children with actively engaged parents achieve better educational outcomes.
  • Volunteering enhances your health and wellbeing.
  • Joining the P&C fosters lifelong friendships.

The P&C is an excellent way to connect with the school and your community, engage in your child’s education, and meet other parents. It serves an enormous purpose – it gives us a sense of belonging and connectedness with others. It creates COMMUNITY.

General Meetings

Meetings are held at the College in an informal and inclusive setting, welcoming new members throughout the year.

Membership costs only $1.00.  Meetings are attended by the College Principal, who shares relevant information about the College.

In Term 1, we hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) during which all executive committee positions are declared vacant, and a new Executive Committee is nominated and elected. The positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

You are welcome to attend any meeting without obligation to join. Becoming a member allows you to vote on issues and nominate or vote for Executive Committee members.

P&C Meetings

Meetings occur on Tuesdays in Week 3 and 8 of each term.

Venue: Conference Room, Administration Building, Atwell College

Time: Tuesday 6.30pm (approximately 1 hour)

Support the P&C

The P&C Association promotes a Voluntary Contribution Appeal of $25.00 to raise funds for the school that benefit all students. Parents are encouraged to consider contributing each year. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact these funds have across the school.

Why Donate?

  • Supporting your child’s school is made easier amidst our busy family and work schedules.
  • It provides a practical alternative to time-consuming fundraising activities.
  • It helps to expand P&C (Parents and Citizens) projects.
  • In the past two years, the P&C has contributed $22,000 for installing two Chilled Water Dispensing Fountains, over $3,000 towards the Positive Behaviours Program, and $15,000 for constructing an undercover area outside the Canteen. A further $15,000 has been assigned to construct a second undercover area in early 2025.
